Janet Billings - Show Off
Janet started working for a company designing and building props for use in window displays for Debenhams, Selfridges and Harrods. In 1985 she set up her own Display Company offering a full service, from design through installation of exhibition stands and window displays.
Janet has worked for an extensive range of clients from small independent retailers to large national companies both in the UK and abroad, Wedgwood & Portmeirion being just two of them. Janet too has won several awards and prizes and still carries out a few displays when she's not busy training!
"I find it so rewarding to watch people's faces while they're looking at the window displays I've created and installed. There's satisfaction from knowing that not only have I brought a smile and hopefully a solution to a shopping list, but I'm giving the public a visual pleasure too."
Sam Bailey - Silver Compass Digital
Sam has spent most of his life working in and around small business. "I love them because of the passion and independent-mindedness of their owners (I am a little biased as both of my parents are small business owners). I think that people who have the guts to put it all on the line and build something on their terms are the most inspirational people out there. If you're a small business owner, I take my hat off to you!
Back in 2014, my job got outsourced to the United States (the only time I've worked for a big business) and I was faced with a choice. I could either set out searching for another job or I could dust myself off and become one of those small business people that I had admired from afar. I chose option number two and now I spend my time working with all sorts of inspirational people and amazing small businesses - helping them to grow using my knowledge and skills with email marketing, social media and other online tools. If you want to learn about the best way to market your small business online then you're in the right place."
